Commercial CEO of Together joins HideOut’s podcast to share his journey from apprentice to CEO.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2023 (6th – 12th February), on Wednesday 8th February, HideOut Youth Zone welcomed Patron, Together, to join a young person led podcast, ‘What Manchester Taught Me’.

The podcast, which was hosted by HideOut Senior Club members Roshawn and Yami, was themed around apprenticeships, and welcomed special guest, Commercial CEO of Together, Marc Goldberg.

The theme of National Apprenticeship Week was ‘Skills for Life’, which allowed Marc to share his story of becoming an apprentice, working his way up the corporate ladder, to becoming the Commercial CEO and the skills he learnt and put into action along the way.

Reflecting on the podcast, host Roshawn said:

“The podcast was an amazing experience to hear from a successful individual. What I took away from the podcast and speaking to Marc was that respect and humbleness gets you a long way, and you can get anything you want in life if you put in the hard work.”

Prior to recording the podcast, Marc said:

“I am delighted to have been invited onto Hideout’s What Manchester Taught Me podcast during this year’s National Apprenticeship Week.

“As a born and bred Mancunian, the city has shaped a huge part of my career and life, and I welcome the chance to join a local youth charity that does so much good for young people in the community.

“We have worked with HideOut since they opened two years ago, and are proud to be a founder patron providing a yearly donation to its ongoing running. We have worked alongside them through an extensive volunteer programme, and encourage our colleagues to get involved in holiday clubs and delivering employability workshops.

“Now more than ever, it is essential to support them through the rising cost of living, which is why we have donated the funds for 750 hot lunches to be provided at their holiday clubs.

“I can’t wait to join the team on the podcast; this is an amazing opportunity for me to share my journey with the next generation, and hopefully pass on some of the knowledge I have gained over the years.”

The ‘What Manchester Taught Me’ podcast series was created to provide an opportunity for young people to hear from HideOut’s Patrons and supporters, get to know them a little better, talk about the shared love of Manchester and why they’re passionate about investing in Manchester’s future.

Patrons of HideOut Youth Zone are a group of individuals and companies united by a determination to give young people across Manchester somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

HideOut’s Patrons’ contributions combine to create circa 60% of annual running costs, as well as consistent support to provide excellent services and opportunities for Manchester’s young people.
