Each month, we will be providing you with the opportunity to get to know our Patrons a little better.
Patrons are a group of individuals and companies united by a determination to give young people in Manchester somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Patrons form part of an exclusive group who share the vision to transform the lives of thousands of young people in Manchester.
This month, we want to introduce you to The Eric Wright Charitable Trust.

What is The Eric Wright Charitable Trust?
The Eric Wright Charitable Trust was established by Mr. Eric Wright in 1990, in the belief that the role of business in society is not to create wealth for the few but rather to help in building a strong community. In fulfilment of this belief, he gifted his entire shareholding in the Eric Wright Group to the Trust to make it the sole owner of the Eric Wright Group. The Trust works with a broad range of charities, primarily in the North West of England, with particular emphasis on:
- Youth Development
- Elderly Care
- Education and Training
- Health Support Services
- Carers’ Support Services
- Mental Health
- Child and Family Support
The Eric Wright Group, owned by The Eric Wright Charitable Trust, are committed to:
- Putting their people at the heart of everything they do, providing long-term, good employment
- Operating sustainably, using local suppliers and supporting the local economy
- Achieving net zero emissions by 2030
- Improving lives within the communities in which they live and work
How do they support HideOut Youth Zone?
The Eric Wright Charitable Trust have been a Patron of HideOut since 2019. They are part of the Youth Zone’s story, helping to change the lives of thousands of young people in Manchester.
We are looking forward to working more closely with Eric Wright this year, especially Amy Griffiths, the new Grants Manager.
Emma Goldthorpe, Head of Finance and Governance at The Eric Wright Charitable Trust said:
“I have I have had the pleasure of working with HideOut Youth Zone since its inception in 2019. In supporting HideOut, the Trust is investing in Young People within our community.
As a Patron, we have maintained a supportive connection with HideOut Youth Zone and look forward to the latest ideas and celebration of young talent through the people attending the centre. We continue to remain in awe of the work accomplished through the Youth Zones and the transformations they achieve.
We thank HideOut for providing young people with a place to go and someone to listen.”
