Each month, we will be providing you with the opportunity to get to know our Patrons a little better.
Patrons are a group of individuals and companies united by a determination to give young people in Manchester somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to. Patrons form part of an exclusive group who share the vision to transform the lives of thousands of young people in Manchester and Salford.
This month, we want to introduce you to Jonathan Murphy.
Building for Health is about more than buildings – supporting community health outcomes is fundamental to what we do at Assura.
Our goal is to positively influence people’s health in the “broadest possible sense”, so supporting young people’s wellbeing – particularly in areas of deprivation – is naturally aligned to our goals as a business.
Building on our long-term partnership with the wider Youth Zone network, Assura reached out to EMPOWER Youth Zones, and we were delighted to join them as Founder Patrons of Salford Youth Zone, as it opened its doors in 2025.
Through Patronage with EMPOWER, we are supporting health outcomes for thousands of young people, delivered through physical activities, emotional wellbeing initiatives and mental health support. This is about long term investment.
EMPOWER have also created brilliant opportunities for our team to volunteer and get involved in events and initiatives with young people.
“What you’ll find is you will get back what you put in because your team will be incredibly engaged and and we’ll get that positivity from seeing what your business can do.” Jonathan Murphy, CEO, Assura.
With EMPOWER overseeing operations of two sites – Salford Youth Zone and HideOut in Gorton, it’s more vital than ever that businesses come together to support them. We’d recommend you reach out to Amanda Coverdale (amanda.coverdale@empoweryouthzones.org) for an initial chat to find out more.
